Learning To Walk

It has been such a joy watching Riley learn. Seeing his strengths and personality shine through. Jacob was walking at 9 months, so to have a child who will be turning one year old in less than a month, it makes me see how each child truly is unique and develops at their own rate. Riley has been very cautious but does a lot of standing on his own. He is taller than Jacob was at that age so maybe there is farther to fall? haha I know in his own time he will start taking off one of these days.

What a cutie! My kids walked at various ages - 7-12 months. The one who walked at 7 months is the least athletic of them all (V walked at 7 1/2 months, but she's not old enough to say one way or another in regards to athletics). I have been told that it might be because early walkers tend to bypass crawling and miss out on some of the brain development that occurs from the cross-crawl pattern. I don't know about that, because my early walkers also crawled early (age 3 months for the earliest). Anyway, the bottom line is that, at least in our household, the age of walking does not have anything to do with future athleticism.
