Jacob Dressing Himself

5.3.07

Jacob has been trying to dress himself the last couple of days. He does it with such dedication and concentration. He had both legs in one pant whole at one point He has even put a shirt over his head with one arm through several times. He is so close to doing it and he REALLY wants to. He works at something even if he is completely frustrated. Yesterday he even put my bathing suit on with the straps wrapped over his head! It was too funny. I took a picture but my camera really did die this time. Ryan and I were transferring pictures to the computer and when we pulled the connecting cord out, it took out a few pieces of the inside of the camera with it and now it is all jammed with fragments of metal. So, it will be a while before there are any new pictures posted here :( Jacob also loves picking out his own clothes! I put on one of his shirts and he started fussing, he went over to his dresser and picked out a t-shirt that had a big picture of a basketball on the front, pulled it over his head over top his other shirt pointing at it and saying bow bow (that is how he says ball). So, I changed him again so he could wear his shirt with the ball on it!

I was looking at Jacob's baby pictures in your slide show above, and its just soooo crazy how fast they grow up!! I want Annika to stay little forever, but then I see how much fun they are when they're starting to do things on their own (like dressing themselves). Way to go, Jacob! You're such a big boy!

Hi Shainilie. Jacob is trying to be such a big boy. That is adorable that he is trying to dress himself. One of these days he will get it. Sorry to hear about your camera. Hope you can get it fixed.

Chick: Thank you :)

Erica: I know, they grow up so fast. Some days I wonder how in the world I have 2 year old (almost) children learn so much in a day. He still surprises me and puts a smile on my face.

Summer: Thanks. You're right. I won't be surprised if any day now he is. He picks up on things very quickly.

Connie: Aww Kendall, what a cutie. Dressing his feet. I know what you mean, the first few years go by so fast. I am almost forgetting what he was like as a baby. I am glad I have everything written down and have taken a lot of pictures because I would NOT remember sniff...sniff :(

Laura: Thanks Laura. Yup, he's a big boy now. I know I shouldn't be so surprised when he does something new but it alwyas does.

Wendy: I know :( They grow up so fast. You're welcome with the comments. I enjoy it, and I love all the pictures you take. You would think you were a photographer! I am glad you enjoy them. My blog comments are sometimes the highlight of my day!

Oh it is great when they start to do things on their own.

And I can tell, it requires a lot of patience, especially in the mornings, when your are in a hurry, the kids need to get dressed up fast, but they insist on doing it on their own...
but I'm a pro at this, I step aside, say an mantra, watch out of the window planing my next steps in the garden, think about what I plan for dinner the next couple of weeks or what ever and after half an hour later my girls are dressed more or less and are proud that they managed on their own. And mom is late for work again....
Your little man is really growing up.

So sweet. I've got pics of Stephen trying to do the same thing when he was about Jacob's age. Isn't it just the cutest thing?
