THE ROAD TO HAPPINESS..........

~~~~~
"We convince ourselves that life will be better once we are married, have a baby then another.
Then we get frustrated that our children are not old enough and that all will be better when they are older. Then we are frustrated because they reach adolescence and we must deal with them. Surely we will be happier when they grow out of the teen years.
We tell ourselves life will be better when our spouse gets his/her act together, when we have a nicer car, when we can take a vacation when we finally retire.
The truth is that there is no better time to be happy than right now. If not then, when. Your life will always be full of challenges. It is better to admit as much and decide to be happy in spite of it all.
There will always some obstacles along the way, an ordeal to get through, some work to be finished, some time to be given, a bill to be paid. Then life would start. I finally came to understand that those obstacles were life, that point of view helped me to see that there is not any road to happiness.
So enjoy every moment. Stop waiting for school to end, for a return to school, to loose 10 pounds, to gain 10 pounds, for work to begin, to get married, for Friday evening, for Sunday morning, for a new car, for your mortgage to be paid, for spring, for summer for winter or fall, the 1st or 15th of the month (pay day) before deciding to be happy.
There is no better time to be happy than now. Live and enjoy the moment.
Now try to answer these questions:
- the 5 richest people in the world
- the last 5 miss universe winners
- the last 10 Nobel prize winners
- The last 10 winners of the best actor Oscar
Can not do it? Rather difficult is it not? Don’t worry nobody remembers all that. Applause dies away. Trophies/ new stuff gather dust. Some winners are soon forgotten.
Now answer these questions:
- 3 teachers who contributed to your education
- 3 friends who helped in your hour of need
- 5 people who made you feel special
- 5 people you like to spend time with
A little easier? The people who mean something to your life are not rated the best, have the most money, have not won the greatest prizes, they are the ones who care about you, those who NO MATTER WHAT, stay close by. Which list are you?
Life is short. The most important thing in this life is to help others win. Even if that means slowing down and changing our race."
~~~~~~~~

Mind you there was not a word about Christ in this, but I still thought that this was something I needed to hear. I am always waiting for something to change instead of enjoying now. We can choose to make those changes, and as a Christian we can choose to live a life with God in the center, have eternal life. That beats anything we can 'have' on Earth. We can't take our stuff with us once we are gone......:)

Anyway, I know this post was quite long and a lot of blab but I hope you enjoyed it.

I like your post today. It made me think about certain things. I can only answer a couple of those questions that are in the blog. Very good post. Oh yeah, I created a new slideshow if you want to check it out.

I have read this one before, but it is a great reminder of what is important in life. Thank you for sharing it with us! I do try to get the most out of each day, as much as possible. But it was nice to be reminded again. :)

Summer: You're right. This post really made you think. I went over to your blog and really enjoyed your slide show. You are really coming along in all your bloging knowlege. It is like you have been doing this for years.

Ellie: Yes, I sometimes get distracted from the important things in life and wouldn't mind having a little more $ security lol but as human as we are it is almost impossible to stay contented and at peace with all the things that go on in our lives :)
