American Idol - Confession

25.1.07

Ok, I know some of you may laugh but I have a confession to make......I really like Simon Cowell. Yes, he can be absolutely rude and enjoys using fowl language at times, but for the most part I have to agree with what he is saying. One of my favorite parts of the show is the auditions. I think that is almost the best part of the whole season!

My Mom would have to disagree with me. She loves the show but refuses to watch the beginning of the season till the auditions and initial screening episodes are finished. She has a hard time laughing at misfortunate people (and at times there are). I think it is an adventure and they chose to put themselves there. Whatever your view of the show I love it!

Here is a quote that was taken from a recent interview with Simon:

Question: You have this reputation of being tough and smarmy, but you've been quite charming and nice. What is with your reputation?

When you tape a show it's a 12-hour day. I think I am nice to more people than I am unpleasant. I guess they only seem to show the unpleasant bits. I try not be nasty for the sake of it. I try to put humor into a ridiculous situation.

I guess that says it all. There is a lot of editing that goes along with a show like that and we see only clips of a show with commercials would really only be 45 minutes long. There are several people that got through and I fell in love with their voice instantly. I am excited about the up coming show. I can't miss an episode! How are all of you enjoying this season of American Idol?

Note: My c-box is now located in my sidebar. Please drop a line. I would love to hear from you :-)

Hi Shanilie. I kind of like me too. He gets right to the point whether or not the person is good or not. It can be rude but other times he can be sweet.

I like Simon as well haha. Sometimes he is a bit mean... I think he should be a better judge of how people are reacting.. and if they are overly emotional to take it easy maybe.. but most of what he says is really funny :-D

And you know he is oddly enough kind of cute HAHA. ::shh!::

Daia: Thanks for poping by my blog :-) I know what you mean lol. At least people are getting the honest answer. Please pop by again some time.

Summer: Very True.

Drea: Yes, sometimes he sure does not know when to quit.

What can I say....I am a sucker for a nice smile :-)

Hey Shanilie. One last note: Are you feeling sick in the morning? I have to agree with the comments of Simon being cute, but instead of saying cute, how about a little handsome.

I am sooooo glad to have found all of you! Everywhere I go, at work, other blogs, etc, nobody seems to admit to enjoying American Idol. It is the media that has decided to talk about it this year and put a negative spin on it and then, people pick up on it and "presto" we have all kinds of opinions of the show. It is really interesting how that happens. I did notice that Rosie Odonnell took sort of the "honor" for starting the whole ball rolling in making people aware of it and "now the media has also picked up on it". I just have issues with all of them, Rosie/media, etc. They blame American Idol, especially Simon for making fun of and "exploiting" these "poor people", but what they don't get is that the people who go on this show have to know what it is going to be like. So many people watch the show, there is no doubt that there will be some sort of critiquing going on if you audition. I love the show and I am so glad all of you here are able to see past the media's take on it and have fun with it. It is entertainment.

And, now, Shanilie, I better get off your blog before you kick me off. I don't get this fired up about things usually, but this subject has hit a raw nerve for me I guess!
